This wood statue is a one of a kind statue, hand carved by the artists of Indonesia.

This amazing sculpture is carved from the trunk of a palm tree. The large bulb on the head of the carving is actually the bottom of the palm as it emerges from the ground. The thin portion of the bottom of the tree is the trunk of the tree.

This piece is unique in that it is very large and has such a pronounced bulb on the top of the head. On the head of this impressive mask is a large bird, which looks to be in a free dive towards the earth. The bird is flanked by two lizards, probably geckos that are found in the islands of South East Asia. Both the bird and the geckos all have designs on their backs. The face has a very dignified countenance. The eyebrows are the tails of the geckos with the birds beak meeting at the spot above the nose. The eyes and mouth are carved hallow so you can see through them. There are triangles carved into the bottom of the piece with each side missing one triangular piece in each side.

If a light were placed behind the mask light would come out of the eyes and mouth giving a nice visual effect.
