This wood mask is a one of a kind mask, hand carved by the artists of Nepal.

This colorful mask from Nepal is a beautiful representation of Mahakala. Mahakala is characteristically depicted with a wrathful look, pot-bellied, bedecked with serpents which stand for the purification of anger. His facial features are excited and electrified. His eyes are unnaturally open giving the viewer a sense of true alarm. Mahakala is wearing a headdress with 5 white skulls each with a ornament on top of them. He has a third eye on his forehead. His eyebrows moustache and facial hair are all made to look as if they were flames erupting from his skin. His pierced ears are large with his black curly hair tucked neatly behind them.

His mouth is open with his sharp teeth and tongue exposed.

The mask is carved in a semi circle that takes that natural shape of the wood it was carved from.
